Dear Brothers in Sigma Phi, A generous California Sig has challenged us all to join him in supporting the critical restoration needs of the landmark Sigma Phi Place at Berkeley. This dedicated Sig has offered to match, one-for-one, all new gifts to the Thorsen House Restoration Fund—up to $100,000—that are made between now and December 31, 2025. Many of you know the Sig Place at 2307 Piedmont Avenue in Berkeley, designed in 1909 by famed architects Greene & Greene. An internationally revered architectural wonder in wood, the house has stood the test of more than a century of weather, use and love. With your help, several urgent projects—including replacement of severely deteriorated split redwood shakes, and correction of leaks into the mahogany-panelled living room—can get underway soon to ready the house for the coming generations of Sigma Phi within its walls. Time is short to meet the matching challenge, so please make your gift today, knowing that it will have double the impact! Your gift to SPEF, earmarked for the Thorsen House Restoration Fund, will not only be matched one-for-one up to $100,000, but may also be tax-deductible. Thank you, and Esto Perpetua!
