David B. Aronoff V'83

David will be joining us at Convention in Burlington, VT as the Convention Speaker. Although well know to the Alpha of Vermont alumni, we feel it is important that you have a little background on David prior to his attendance at the Convention.


David Aronoff is Chairman and Managing Partner at MCJ. MCJ invests in startups that override the physical economy's limits, focusing on energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors. Since forming its first fund in late 2020, MCJ has invested in more than one hundred innovative startup companies including Crusoe, Base Power, The Nuclear Company and Verse. 

 

With three decades of venture capital experience, David has spent the bulk of his career investing in high-growth technology startups. He previously served as General Partner at Flybridge, beginning in 2005, where his investment focus included cloud infrastructure, semiconductors and cybersecurity. Prior to Flybridge, David spent nearly a decade as a General Partner at Greylock. Earlier in his career, he held senior technology and management roles at Chipcom and Bell Laboratories, developing secure network equipment and software.

 

A Vermont native, David holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Vermont, an MS in Computer Engineering from University of Southern California, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of NetBox Labs, BitSight, Aliro Quantum and iDirect Government. He is an Emeritus Director of Draper Laboratories. In addition he serves on the board of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and is Trustee Emeritus of The University of Vermont and the Rashi School.
