Long-time Society Chairman Cal Howard Dies

The Society recently received notice of the death of our long-time Society Chairman and Sig stalwart Calhoun L. H. Howard, S'54. Cal passed away at 5:00 AM on Tuesday August 12^th after being taken to the hospital just the night before to relieve severe pains that would not subside.

A biography of Cal's life, accomplishments, and contributions to Sigma Phi is available on the Sigma Phi website. Also posted on the website is a very touching letter to the Society from Cal's daughter Susan Blair Howard Caplan. Reading these documents will give you a real appreciation for Cal's life and the mutually beneficial impact the Society and its brothers can have upon each other.

A memorial service and celebration of Cal's life will be held at his home in the Green Mountains of Vermont (1115 South End Road, Mount Tabor, VT 05253) on Sunday August 24^th at 3:00 PM EDT. All are welcome. Please RSVP to Cal's daughter Susan Caplan at scaplan@aol.com.
